Counter-Flow Degassing ColumnsFor high-volume degassing in a small space, use these AES/LS-engineered systems. Their high-efficiency design maximizes water contact with fresh air, resulting in smaller, less expensive columns. These degassers use a low-pressure blower to move air upward through the down-flowing water. Counterflows are essential for stripping stubborn gases like carbon dioxide, which typically requires gas-to-water ratios upwards of 5 to 1 (volume basis). We'll recommend the appropriate packing media for fouling resistance based on your water quality. All our degassers are engineered for easy media removal and nozzle changing. Select the configuration option that best suits your needs (see illustrations). We can custom configure degassers to meet your requirements and provide quotes for support stands as needed.
Sizing these columns for gas transfer and biofiltration is a complex process. Our technical specialists use advanced computer programs to calculate the amount of media and airflow needed based on water quality and flow. For accurate sizing, call our Technical Service department, request a questionnaire by e-mail or complete one at our website. There is a $100 pre-pay fee for questionnaire processing, system sizing and computer report printout.
The DG1 series degassers are cylindrical polyethylene towers, using random-packed, Bio-Barrel media (sold separately). Blower sold separately.
The DG2 series degassers are rectangular polyethylene towers made with Bio Strata block media (included). The LS48 media included with these units is for standard, filtered, aquaculture water. Request LS688 for clean water or LS31 for waste-laden water at 8% higher price. With proper media selection, these units are very resistant to fouling. The built-in manometer indicates when it's time to remove and clean the media. Blower sold separately.
The DG3 degassers are also rectangular and use Bio Strata media, but the walls are made of a painted, aluminum composite material with fiberglass framing. These degassers will hold up under the most demanding environments, including sun and seawater. They are custom built to whatever size is needed. As with all our degassers, the unit will arrive complete—all you do is assemble the support stand (optional, as needed) and hook-up the blower and piping. Blower sold separately. The DGBlower is a high-quality, marine-duty unit with a pipe-fitting inlet and outlet (4" heater hose), so it can be mounted virtually anywhere. Airflow rate will be slightly less than when using this blower for induced draft (see "DG Configuration Options"). Blower is 115V/60 Hz, 1.5 amps, with a 1' long cord. |
